One thing I’ve noticed over the years is that a grapefruit cocktail is always an easy sell, especially during hot summer months. Try substituting grapefruit juice for lemon to have a tall, refreshing Tom Collins. Or make a traditional gin and tonic with lime, but then insert a nice, juicy piece of pink grapefruit and top it off with a slapped piece of fragrant sage leaf.
I also love a drink from Austria called Stiegl Radler, which is a blend of 40 percent Stiegl Goldbrau beer and 60 percent all-natural grapefruit soda (and it’s only 3.2 percent alcohol, so you can tip one or two back on a hot sunny afternoon without a care). Find it at Four Firkins.
Locally brewed Schell’s recently introduced its grapefruit beer, called Schell Shocked Radler. So refreshing! I like this trend—it makes it easier for us to get our seven servings of fruits and vegetables every day!
