Where and What to Eat
Eat & Tell: Where Can We Try a Chef Special Sushi Menu?
Q: Looking for a place we can go for sushi and just let the chef take over … any ideas?
A: So you’re looking for an omakase, a chef’s special menu of whatever they please. This is fun, and it’s especially MORE fun if you can score some spots at the sushi bar while your chef is slicing fish, so try to plan for that.
Origami has been known as the top dog for omakase for a long time, and rightly so. I’ve always had great adventures there. If you can plunk down at the sushi bar at Masu, and there’s a spectacled gentleman named Asan in front of you, give him your trust, he is wise and generous in the ways of sushi. I’d also put my meal in the hands of the crazy creative chefs at Sushi Tango, either the Uptown or Woodbury location.
