Where and What to Eat

Eat & Tell: Where Can I Eat with Less Noise?

Eat & Tell: Where Can I Eat with Less Noise?

Q: First of all there’s nothing wrong with my hearing, but why are places so damn loud? I can’t shout at my companion anymore, can you please identify a few food-forward places that are still casual and cool but aren’t a scream-fest?

A:  This is something I hear often as the trend for hard surface d├ęcor continues to trump flowy pillowed surfaces. Here’s a few tips: eat on Tuesday or Wednesday if you really want to hit up the hot-spot but want to chat, and if you can’t commit to early bird eating, try after 8:00pm during the week. There are a few places that I think should be on your short list. The Lynn on Bryant is definitely a mod vibe with a sensible level and a great menu. The Kenwood is bustling and lively without going over the top. But my favorite is always Restaurant Alma to have those long lingering chats over amazing dishes.
