  • This Living Room in a historic Lake of the Isles home was created for the homeowners to enjoy quiet relaxation and also entertaining guests with music and conversation. The walls are covered in a hushed blue-green silk wallcovering creating a backdrop for the owner’s collection of art & antiques. The windows were an important feature in the room, they look out over a park to the North & the Lake to the East, we framed them in a sheer linen to not compete with views, yet complete the room.
  • Who wouldn’t want to snuggle up and watch a movie in this Glamorous Media Room? Our design challenge came from the problem of being one of the only interior rooms in a condo with full walls of windows. We needed to create the psychology of space in order to not feel boxed in, so a wall of diaphanous drapery to the rescue and a photo of the downtown skyline, as if there was a window there, gave the sense of a vista as you enter. This was another award winning project from Herrick Design Group.
  • A Suite fit for a Master : Bold and Dynamic, yet restful all the same. The Barrel Vaulted ceiling leads your eye across the room and right out to the view of Lake Harriet. The Homeowner said he felt like it was his tree-top oasis, boys will be boys. We were honored to be the Winner of the People’s Choice Award at the 2008 ASID Showcase Home and then won a First Place at the ASID Annual Awards Ceremony the same year for this space.
  • Crisp, Clean and Elegant : We felt the graceful curve of the fixtures were so important to balance the strength of the cabinetry and sinks. The happiest compromise ever was the wall of frosted glass concealing the shower and water closet, there weren’t enough inches for a traditional wall, what a benefit!
  • Vaulted spaces are a desired feature when designing a home, yet they often leave the occupant feeling a bit uncomfortable within them. Scale is all important in these rooms; you need a few pieces that are taller than the typical seating in order to give the room a human-scale for psychological comfort. Voila! A cozy room at last.
  • This breakfast room needed additional storage and furnishings fit for use by “her boys” when we met. A traditional Break Front cabinet was designed to fit the space without being overbearing. The next piece of the puzzle was the Marquetry Table, already distressed and worn in so new marks wouldn’t stand out. Chairs with Teflon treated fabrics rounded out this functional and beautiful space suited for family use.
  • Are you tired of your under-utilized Dining Room? This client sure was, so we turned it into a Library and now she said it gets used all the time! Convenient to the rest of the house and action, yet slightly set apart for just the right amount of peace and quiet to curl up with a book.
  • What do you need to revive and recharge yourself? Often we are asked to create just the right blend of relaxation and warmth in a Master Bedroom. For this homeowner that recipe included straight lines, deep woods, buttery-sofa leather, texture and subdued patterns. What is your vision?
  • Nature Refined: the marble was selected and designed to be the perfect foil for the tawny warmth of the wood cabinetry. The varied tones of green to grey offer a cooling effect and the book-matched installation is nothing short of stunning.
  • Herrick Design Group loves to bring life to the materials in the built environment. Finding marble slabs fit to book-match, yielding this dynamic mirrored-from-the-center effect, was quite a coup. When we were describing to the client what we were able to create, he said, “Great! I have no idea what you’re talking about, but if you’re that excited let’s do it!” There is no higher compliment than the trust our clients have in us.
