Friday noon – 8 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
With nearly 400,000 visitors, only the Minnesota State Fair bests this festival in attendance each year. Browse professional and young artists’ booths, watch a culinary arts competition in action, and make clay art at the Family Imagination Station. Food and live music will be on hand, too. Free!
Free First Saturday: Performance Play @ Walker Art Center
Saturday 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Wander through the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden to make take-home art, check out a performance workshop with the Children’s Theatre Company, and play a gigantic game of musical chairs. Then take the kids inside to explore the Walker Art Center—admission is free the first Saturday of each month. Free!
Powderhorn Art Fair @ Powderhorn Park
Saturday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The 23rd annual fair brings together 184 artists from across the country. Meander through the tent-filled park, listen to live music on the World Music Stage, and watch a puppet show performance by Open Eye Figure Theatre at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., or 2 p.m. both days. Free!
Ówamni: Falling Water Festival @ Father Hennepin Bluffs Park
Saturday 2 p.m. – dusk
You can celebrate indigenous Minnesota culture with an array of food, fine art, and live music. Stick around for a test screening of The Jingle Dress, which was filmed in Minnesota. Free!
Paws On Grand @ Grand Avenue in St. Paul
Sunday 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The annual celebration fêtes our four-legged friends with treat bags (for dogs and humans), pet-friendly restaurant patios, pet bathing and hair styling, paw print art-making, a pet photo booth, and more. Most events are free.
