Party for the Planet @ Como Park Zoo & Conservatory
Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
Como Zoo stretches Earth Day into the weekend with a lineup of crafts and activities designed to teach kids how they can help conserve and protect our Mother Earth. Free!
GTCYS Family Concert: Made in America @ Ordway Center for Performing Arts
Saturday, 11 a.m.
It's music by kids, for kids. The Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies, made up of young musicians ages 8-18, will be performing an interactive concert geared toward families with kids ages 6-12, including Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring.
25th Annual Kiwanis Kite Fly @ Louisiana Oaks Park
Saturday, noon–4 p.m.
Fly kites with members of the Minnesota Kite Society. You can bring your own kite, and there are also free kites for kids “while supplies last” (read: get there early). Also recommended: picnic lunches and lawn chairs. It’s spring, y’all!
Squish of Spring @ Minnesota Landscape Arboretum
Saturday and Sunday, noon–4 p.m.
It’s mud season – let the kids get dirty! Build (and decorate) a mud pie, see what soil looks like underneath a microscope, dig up some decomposers (worms), and plant a soil experiment to take home.
Free with Arboretum admission: adults $12, kids 12 and younger free.
