My hammock was swinging this weekend as I ate up the rest of Giulia Melucci's I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti, basically a chick lit book with recipes, reminiscent of Hesser's Cooking for Mr. Latte. I have to say I liked Hesser's recipes better, but Melucci is a looser, kickier writer.
Now that I'm in need of another title, Hennepin County Library has graciously come to my aid with its Food for Thought list of 36 non-fiction food books about eating, cooking, and restaurants.
There's good stuff on there, including Buford's Heat, Kurlansky's Food of a Younger Land, and Lee's Fortune Cookie Chronicles. I would also include Molly Wizenberg's A Homemade Life and one of my new favorites, Shark's Fin and Sichuan Pepper by Fuschia Dunlop.
