Look, Booze Growlers Are A Thing
Brunch Beat: Hola Arepa

Burger Jones opened on Tuesday with a bang. Parasole's burger restaurant is serving beefy burgers and boozy shakes to lots and lots of people. Wednesday, day two of operations, they fed approximately 1,000 people over lunch and dinner.
Dragonfly Coffee is now open on the corner of 50th and Penn in South Minneapolis.
Stabby's Cafe, freshly opened in the old Isabel's Coffee at Cedar and 42nd, is donating all proceeds from baked goods this weekend to the Fisher House, an organization that helps military families. That's great, but it will be hard for me to deny the pull of gingerbread pancakes or one of the loaded omelets.
Tobie Nidetz threw a big one out yesterday: J. P. Samuelson returning to his old space? I was just getting used to thinking of him as the new tapas king.
The Times/Jitters space in NE is said to be going to the guys behind Chiang Mai Thai, who plan to turn it into an Asian restaurant with a nightclub in the basement.
Marianne Miller has put together a cool wine dinner in conjunction with Biella next Wednesday the 27th at the Bird House Inn in Excelsior. She's calling it "The Impossibles." I love this idea; her menu is focused around ingredients that are notoriously hard to pair with wines. What do you pair with asparagus soup? What wine would you pour with mussels that had been cooked in stout? What about Thai tuna ceviche? She wants to break all the usual wine pairing "rules" and show people how to expand their minds and mouths. Seats are $65, contact Biella for reservations.
Tour de Farm has added another event! On July 30th, it will be hosting a dinner at the Sculpture Garden in honor of urban farming and the Youth Farm & Market Project. The all-star chef lineup will include Asher Miller, Alex Roberts, Jim Grell, Mike Phillips, and Zoe Francois. I'm already signed up, and tickets will probably go fast, so hurry.
You have to ask yourself one question: Do you feel lucky? The Blue Plate Restaurant gang will give you the opportunity to test your luck on June 1st. In honor of Flip-a-Coin Day (yes, sure, why not) the popular grills (Edina, Longfellow, Highland, and 3 Squares) will flip you for your breakfast from 6 to 11 a.m.; call it in the air correctly, and the restaurant pays for breakfast. It's a 50-50 chance, but you could get lucky, punk.
Need to get all those grillables out of your teeth, but wish there was a more savory way of doing it. There is wake and slake!
