This Fresh Forkin' Friday I am heading out to Green Bay for a wedding. While this one is hardly an affair draped with cheese-head paraphernalia, I am going to do a little road-side shopping on my way there. Is it bad form to get a wedding gift at a truck stop? Maybe not, as long as it's the Wilderness Crossing truck stop just outside of Wittenberg, WI which stocks a ridiculous amount of Nueske's meats. I think I'll be quite welcomed with my basket of applewood smoked bacon and ham. If it makes it there.
El Burrito Mercado opened in the Midtown Global Market. Yes, you can have a pinata for your birthday. Sure, load it with flautas and chorizo if you want.
Hey Nordstrom shoppers, Masu opened in the Mall of America. The cute shop is stylish and slick, just like the vibe at the original, plus the sushi and robata are perfect fuel for an extended bit of retail therapy.
Union is the name of the restaurant that will take over the Shinders/Shea building on Hennepin and 8th. Operations will be run the Kaskaid Hospitality and Jim Christiansen (lastly of Il Gatto) will be the man in the kitchen. Johnny Michaels will plan the drink program for the whole shebang, including a downstairs lounge known as Marquee. The big talk is of the four-season rooftop. Can you imagine New Years? Opening, fingers crossed, by November.
