The Lucky Monkey
Getting the bummers out of the way, Clicquot Club Cafe has closed its doors. I have faith that sweet building will be in use again.
And California Cafe at MOA has left the building, but the locally owned Crave will take the space over. Nice to see local restaurant ownership at Hugedale.
Plus, E's Cheese in Mendota Heights has apparently closed up shop.
Heidi's has debuted its shiny, new chef's table. Sitting right in the kitchen, you'll be able to watch Stewart Woodman as he creates and toils and works his particular brand of edible magic. Don't believe the rumors; the guy's a kitten.
Ring in the Year of the Ox at the Midtown Global Market. On January 30, the Chinese New Year celebration will include calligraphy lessons, cooking demonstrations, a lion dance, and traditional fortunetelling by Chinese elders. I'm going just to get my lucky red envelope from the best source.
The best food in chilly weather is, well, chili. If you think yours is top-notch, why not put it to the test? Enter the Northern Clay Center's Chili Tasting Party on February 5. Bring a pot of your favorite chili, and they'll keep it hot in the kiln, then everyone can grab a spoon and vote for the best while also checking out cool clay from their Artists of the Month. NCC will provide the toppings, as well as corn bread, beer, and dessert for the $10 entrance fee. Register with recipes through February 3.
It's not cheesy to be a cheese fiend. And all the cool cheese fiends are checking in with France 44's cheese blog to get their dairy-laden news.
