Happy Green Beer Eve! This Fresh Forkin' Friday it seems that everyone is gearing up for the inevitable drink fest that is St. Patty's Day (on a Saturday no less). Honestly, as a former bartender with not a scoash of Irish in her (despite the last name), it's a little hard for me to join in the revelry. I have too many stories from behind the bar that I'd like to block, like the time in Wisconsin when I realized I was the only sober bartender/person in the house and a green painted dude jumped behind the bar and starting handing out shots. Don't get in his way. Or the time I thought I was safe bartending at a suburban Italian restaurant, only to have the all-day-drinkers show up for some carbo-loading and subsequent puking. Super fun. Maybe this: go out and have your fun this weekend, be safe, and be nice to the brother or sister sloshing your beer, consider it a drop of gold in the lucky karma bucket at the end of the rainbow. ***** COMING SOON
Azia Market & Bar will be making an encore performance on Eat Street in the near near future!
Perhaps Cafe Maude will be moving into the Nick & Eddie space sometime soon.
And maybe, just maybe, something is going on at The Commodore.
Also, it seems that Rusty Taco is moving into Nordeast.
Food truck season!
JJ Murphy's Irish Pub, just in time, opened in Blaine. It's the newest sibling to Dermott Cowley's collection which includes Jake O'Connors, O'Donovan's, and Lola's Lakehouse.
The Original Pancake House, which closed their power-breakfast Wayzata location, has re-opened up the road in Plymouth. Yes, my kid was there at 6 a.m. for free cakes before first hour.
Harbor View Cafe in Pepin, one of the metro's favorite destination dining drives, is open for the season as of this weekend.
Franklin Street Bakery has closed the Edina location. The original Minneapolis site remains open.
It is possible that the Chef's Gallery in Stillwater will be taken over by Cooks of Crocus Hill.
