There is something about lanterns that is so quintessentially charming. They are simple, yet unique, and make you want to curl up underneath and read a good book. In recent years, this antiquesque home accessory has gotten a major overhaul, and with so many styles ranging from wood and rod iron to glass and ceramic, lanterns are a complement to any abode.
Sure, a perfectly placed lantern can enhance a kitchen, bathroom, or parlor, but with spring upon us (although it doesn’t quite feel that way), it’s time to start thinking about your patio. Whether on a post in your garden or mounted to a wall, you can’t go wrong with this classic, mood-setting light.
Here are some favorites:
When you want something informal and beach-chic . . .
Careen large lantern ($59.95), from Crate & Barrel, Galleria, crateandbarrel.com
When you want some color . . .
Moroccan lanterns ($25-$38), from Pier 1 Imports, multiple locations including 2397 Fairview Ave. N., Roseville, pier1.com
So simple you could do it yourself . . .
Small mason jar lantern ($22.99), from Bachman’s, multiple locations including 6010 Lyndale Ave. S., Mpls., bachmans.com
When you want something more modern . . .
Quoizel Jonathan medium wall lantern ($159.99), from Bed Bath & Beyond, multiple locations including 11240 Wayzata Blvd., Minnetonka, bedbathandbeyond.com
