Do you ever look at a chair or table in a magazine and think, “How can I get my hands on that?”

Enter: Holly Moore, local creator of Design Access.
An interior designer with more than 20 years of experience in the field, Moore created Design Access as a way for consumers with a do-it-yourself attitude to purchase items that are only available to professionals. Her goal? To target those individuals with a strong sense of design who know what they want, but need the quick help of a designer to get them.
“The idea made sense to me,” Moore says. “Give access to amazing products to people who just want to make purchases. Although the Midwest may not be as large a market, there are plenty of people who are interested in and aware of good design for their homes, and they just want what they’re seeing in the magazines.”
The way it works is Moore acts as your buying agent, helping you to navigate showrooms and hunting down pieces you want for your home. By working through Design Access, homeowners can get discounts of 25 to 40 percent for items that are typically quoted at 20 percent over what designers pay.
“The appeal of using Design Access is having more options available than what’s out there in the retail world,” says Moore. “Anyone who is truly interested in interiors and home decorating knows that the best rooms are furnished with items available to-the-trade. All those things advertised in decorating magazines as to-the-trade, that’s what working through a designer, or Design Access, can get you.”
But buyer beware: Unlike buying retail, there may not be a return policy.
