EVERLASTing Love: The Big Day
By: Mary Juhl | Posted: 05/27/2011
Searching for a classic look for your groom and his guys? Forget Windsor knots and skinny black ties—consider bow ties from Minneapolis-based line Freedom From Doubt. Launched in 2009 by designer Jared Zachary, these collections give a sophisticated and fresh twist to the traditional bow (and they're oh-so-dapper).
Freedom From Doubt offers a variety of unique structures and fabrics, and it's easy to customize their neckwear to suit your wedding colors and groomsmen's personal taste. "I recommend doing something special for the groom to help him stand out for his wedding, whether it's a detail like satin piping or a coordinating pocket square," Zachary says.
As groomsmen gifts go, cognac sets and flasks are a bit overdone (and a tad boring). Zachary suggests sending your entourage home with a bow they can use for other formal occasions. "The best part of doing custom bows for the wedding party is that they make perfect, unique gifts," he says.
In 2009, the entrepreneur was searching for a leather bow tie, with no luck. As an architecture student with a keen eye for structure and design, he decided to make his own. Just six months later, he launched Freedom From Doubt. This year, Zachary seems to have hit his retail stride, selling his line of bow ties online and at five metro locations: Atmosfere, Blue Peg, Elsworth, Heimie's, and Martin Patrick3.
Freedom From Doubt's ties to the Twin Cities run deep. In addition to local retail, all the models on FFD's website are from Minneapolis agency Vision Management Group. Runway show Voltage: Fashion Amplified in April also featured the as accessories for Danielle Everine's spring looks. "I consider [Voltage] the most well-known annual fashion show in Minneapolis, and it seems to be a launching pad for much of the area's talent," Jared says. With the Fall/Winter 2011 fashion season approaching, keep your eye on Freedom From Doubt. Local never looked so good!
