The Minnesota Opera performs in St. Paul at The Ordway, of the largest and most classically ornate performance halls in the Midwest. On opening night, particularly, opera-goers break out the diamonds, couture dresses, and tuxes, tilt back the martinis, and generally party at a level of sophistication that’s hard to find anywhere else in the Twin Cities. Operas often have multiple intermissions as well, so there’s plenty of time to watch this impressive parade of privilege. On a winter night, with the lights of Rice Park glistening outside, the Ordway is one of the most beautiful venues of its kind in the country.
